X Play Gizmo
Used when Netscape invokes an external sound player (showaudio, for example) or movie viewer (mpeg_play, for example). After installing X Play Gizmo, sound and movie files may be played multiple times, and saved locally, without multiple data transfers.

XAnim is an X11 animation viewer that works under many operating systems and supports many types of animation formats.

Multi-Stream System Layer encoder/decoder/player set for SGI, Linux, SunOS.

A variety of MPEG players for different architectures.

The pbmplus utilities are a good set of picture-conversion and manipulation programs. Run setup pbmplus and man -k pbm for more information.

The command for interlacing GIF images in Unix is:
cat poof.gif | giftoppm | ppmtogif -interlace > new_interlace.gif

xview (X Window System-based Visual/Integrated Environment for Workstations) is a user-interface toolkit to support interactive, graphics-based applications running under the X Window System.

Ghostscript is a software package that interprets Adobe PostScript and performs a few other nifty features.

GNU and Aladdin Ghostscript are both maintained by the same person but have different licenses. Aladdin's is newer.

AudioFile is a sound application that can play many different formats and compiles on most Unix boxes.

Xplay (release 0.6), a sound player for SunOS 4.1.x.

htmltext, a WYSIWYG editor for HTML documents, written with the Andrew User Interface System.
