"Windows Accelerator Modems" don't work with Personal Edition dialer

There is a class of low-cost modems known as "Windows Accelerator
Modems" that are designed exclusively for Microsoft Windows.  They
achieve their low cost by using simpler, lower-chip-count designs and
by relying on software that runs on the host computer's CPU.

At this time, the dialer that comes with the Netscape Navigator
Personal Edition does not work with the software that Windows
Accelerator Modems require, so therefore these modems will not work
with the Personal Edition dialer.  You can work around this problem by
performing a "custom install" of the Personal Edition to install only
the Navigator and Eudora Lite software; you will then need to purchase
a different TCP/IP stack and dialer that is compatible with Windows
Accelerator Modems, or else find a freeware/shareware stack and dialer
on the Internet.  You could also work around the problem by using a
different kind of modem.
